Analysis of Heart Rate Variability signal: in clinical applicationsAnalysis of Heart Rate Variability signal- Krzysztof Kudryski

The aim of this book is to evaluate and compare various methods for Heart Rate Variability analysis and to present the steps of the algorithm designed to perform temporal and spectral analyses of the recorded signals. The graphical representation, accompanied by the set of Heart Rate Variability parameters ready to be interpreted by the doctor, is to be helpful in identification of the cardiac ailment.

Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Variability, (Studies in Health Technology and Informatics, V)Blood Pressure and Heart Rate Variability- M. Di Rienzo

Technological progress has allowed us to develop devices which make it possible to record blood pressure and heart rate outside the real living conditions. Furthermore, technological progress has provided computer tools to analyze data on a beat-to-beat basis, offering a large body of information on the complex patterns of blood pressure and heart rate variability in health and in disease which has clarified a number of mechanisms responsible for cardiovascular regulation during the day and night. This book aims at providing an updated state of the art on the analysis of blood pressure and heart rate variability from the different perspectives of physiologists, clinicians and engineers by gathering the contributions of experts taken from both the biomedical and the engineering environment. In particular, attention was focused on 1) the methodology of ambulatory blood pressure and heart rate analyses, 2) the mathematical models that can be derived from the data and the implications they have for the understating of normal and deranged cardiovascular control and 3) the present and future use of computer analysis of dynamically collected observations for the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases.

Cover ImageNo More Heart Disease- Dr. Louis J. Ignarro
Dr. Louis Ignarro discovered "the atom" of cardiovascular health--a tiny molecule called Nitric Oxide. NO, as it is known by chemists, is a signaling molecule produced by the body, and is a vasodilator that helps control blood flow to every part of the body. Nitric Oxide has a beneficial effect on the cardiovascular system as well.

NO relaxes and enlarges the blood vessels, prevents blood clots that trigger strokes and heart attacks, and regulates blood pressure and the accumulation of plaque in the blood vessels. Dr. Ignarro's current research indicates that Nitric Oxide may help lower cholesterol by facilitating the actions of statin drugs like Lipitor.

The goal of the regimen presented in NO More Heart Disease is to age proof the cardiovascular system, keeping the vascular network clean and elastic through enhanced NO productivity. The plan is easy-to-follow without extreme lifestyle adjustments, involving taking supplements to stimulate Nitric Oxide production, incorporating NO friendly food into the diet, and a moderate exercise program.

Cover ImageThe Cardiovascular Cure- Dr. John P. Cooke

The Cardiovascular Cure offers a groundbreaking approach to preventing heart attack and stroke by enhancing your body’s own natural defenses. Dr. John Cooke, head of Stanford Medical School’s vascular unit, has devised a powerful new method for fighting cardiovascular disease without bypass surgery or angioplasty. Drawing on his own investigations, as well as Nobel Prize-winning research from a team of American scientists, Dr. Cooke provides heart patients with a diet, supplement, and exercise program that will help them feel better in as little as two weeks. His program also works to prevent heart disease in those at risk.

This potentially life-saving book shows how anyone can achieve healthier blood vessels (the key to preventing heart disease). A two-week menu plan contains recipes that emphasize EDRF-enhancing foods, and there is detailed information on supplemental nutrients and vitamins that are useful in strengthening the cardiovascular system.

With an introduction by Sir John Vane, a Nobel Prize-winning cardiovascular scientist, this book will provide anyone concerned about his or her cardiovascular health with new hope for a pain-free, disease-free life.
